In addition to the Montessori curriculum described on our Toddler House, Primary and Elementary pages, other special curricula and activities include the following.

Foreign Language

Most classrooms enjoys a native Spanish-speaking assistant, who communicates with the students in Spanish during their time together.  Other languages are explored as part of the classroom's cultural activities. Children engage their abilities to expand their language skills and in the process deepen and enrich their communication and thought processes about the world.

Music is an important part of activities every week at CMS. In addition to music activities in the classrooms, Community Gathering on Friday mornings is a wonderful opportunity for students to sing and play instruments for the other children and teachers, as well as parents.

Children enjoy daily opportunities to work on a variety of art projects as well as integrating their artistic creativity through their work with botany, zoology, geography, and all other academic subjects. Students' creative explorations are wonderful steps in the learning process and represent the Montessori approach to connect the child's work and creative expression in a meaningful way.

Physical Education

The elementary children take part in PE classes during the week in which they develop both physical abilities and co-operation in team games.

World Studies

Children have many adventures throughout the year learning about countries around the world. These early experiences lead to meaningful connections and thinking about world cultural topics.
