Primary
The Primary Classrooms consist of a community of children of ages 2-1/2 through 6. Corvallis Montessori School includes three primary classrooms, each with children of a 3 to 4-year age range. There are 25 children per class. One Montessori teacher and one assistant guide aid the children in a rich array of activities.
Young children ages 2 1/2 to 6 enjoy hands-on practical life activities (such as washing hands, dusting, and preparing snacks) as they develop coordination and functional independence.
The beautiful, sunlit rooms include attractive learning materials for education in language, mathematics, sensorial experiences, exercises of "practical life," geography, art, music, science, and more. Social graces are continually modeled and practiced in the primary classroom community.
Each spacious, light-filled classroom includes an outdoor extension area attached with a covered work area for enjoying nature, gardening, physical movement and various other activities in the fresh air. In addition, the spacious outdoor playpark includes various play structures, a large sandbox, bicycles & tricycles with a bike track, a small soccer field, a basketball hoop & blacktop court, picnic tables, a performance stage and climbing boulders, all interspersed in a natural setting of gardens, trees, native plants and more.
