Tamara Basham, Head of School

Tamara holds a BS in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin a Master’s Degree in Education from Loyola College.  She began her career in education teaching English as a Second Language to pre-schoolers in Austin, Texas.   She completed her AMI training at the Montessori Institute of the Northwest, in Portland, Oregon.  She loved living in Oregon and is delighted to be back. Tamara served as a Primary guide at the Post Oak School in Houston, Texas for six and a half years.  Most recently she was the Associate Admission Director for Post Oak’s adolescent campus in the heart of Houston’s Museum district.  Her experience with children, families, and colleagues in this role affirmed her belief in Dr. Montessori’s work and inspired her as both a teacher and a parent. She enjoys introducing new families to Montessori education and nurturing relationships with families in the community.  She also enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, traveling, reading, and listening to great music especially live or on vinyl.

Lynne Brown, Assistant Head of School

Lynne joined Corvallis Montessori School in 2012. She completed her Infant/Toddler (0-3 years) training at the North American Montessori Training Center, Vancouver, BC, in 2009. In addition to her Montessori certification, she holds a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College, Boston, a BS in Journalism from Suffolk University, Boston, and has extensive experience in business management and operations.  Lynne and her husband have 7 children (four grown, three still at home) and four grandchildren.   In her free time Lynne 'homesteads' on her city lot in Corvallis - gardening, canning, pickling and fermenting.  She also loves to spin (wool), knit and read.


Jennifer Moore, Administrative Assistant 

Jennifer arrived in Corvallis in August, 2015 from Maine, joining extended family in Oregon.  Jennifer studied Sculpture at the San Francisco Art Institute, then worked in Film production before moving onto Administration at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.  After living in the Bay Area for many years, life led her on a road trip that ended across the country in Maine, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant at an Art school in the seaside town of Belfast.  After years in the snow, Jennifer missed her West Coast family and is happy to return to Oregon and join the Corvallis Montessori community.  She loves nature, pursuing ceramic sculpture, writing and cooking.



Jena Fay, Toddler House Guide

Jena grew up in Ohio and New York. She received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Memphis in 2009. In Memphis, Jena sought many volunteer opportunities to work with children and thus her love for education and working with children became evident. She moved to Oregon in 2011 with her son and husband to attend graduate school at OSU where she received a Professional Science Master's degree in Botany with a focus on science education. Over the past four years she has enjoyed becoming familiar with the native flora and fauna of the area and settling down permanently in Corvallis. Her family is avid mushroom hunters and campers and love exploring the Pacific Northwest old growth forests.


Ana Serano, Toddler House Guide

 Ana was born in Mexico and grew up in Hood River, OR.  She enjoys reading and playing softball.


Christina Garcilazo, Toddler House Assistant

Christina has a BS in Human Development and Family Studies from Oregon State University.  She has previous experience working with young children as an intern and lead teacher in and around Corvallis.    In her spare time she enjoys hiking and cooking.

Stephanie Vasil, Primary Guide, Bamboo Room

Stephanie was raised in Minnesota, where she received a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Minnesota in 1996.  First introduced to Montessori philosophy while working as an Elementary Assistant in Portland, Oregon, Stephanie earned her AMI Primary degree in 1999 at the Montessori Institute Northwest in Portland, and shortly thereafter came to CMS.  Attending annual Montessori refresher courses keeps her practice fresh and offers her inspiration.  She loves animals, gardening, and the natural world, particularly the peacefulness of living in her countryside home tucked in the woods. She spends much of her free time cross-country skiing, rafting, backpacking, and practicing Bikram's yoga.


Christina Linkem , Primary Assistant, Bamboo Room

Christina was born and raised near Seattle, WA and received her B.S. in Biology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Missing the northwest, however, she moved to Corvallis and fell in love with nature education through various volunteering opportunities. Now as a Classroom Assistant in the Bamboo Room, she tries to show children the beauty of nature each and every day! Christina's hobbies include surfing (yes, even in Oregon!), hiking, traveling and visiting Oregon's plethora of craft breweries. 


Jessica Mallett, Primary Guide, Maple Room

Jessica is a lifelong Montessorian.  Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, she attended at thriving, multicultural, public Montessori school through elementary. Her desire to share that experience with others brought her to Portland in 2004 to complete the primary guide training program at the Montessori Institute Northwest. Since then she has worked not only as a primary guide, but also volunteered as a board member for the Oregon Montessori Association and a site auditor for the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education. Jessica has a B.A. in Human Studies from Marylhurst University and has a continued interest in the social sciences. She enjoys gardening, crafting, and exploring ways to support a sustainable lifestyle.

Maria Cortes has many years experience caring for young children in the Corvallis area.  Previously she worked as a substitute assistant at the Philomath Montessori School.

Jessica Fraley, Primary Guide, Willow Room


Jess Fraley has her Master’s of Education in Montessori Primary Teaching from the Northwest Montessori Training College and Loyola College. She comes from a primary classroom at a Montessori Charter school in Maryland where she enjoyed learning about a family systems approach towards education. She believes in nurturing her relationships with each child in the classroom as the basis for connecting children to their environment. Along with her passion for the Montessori philosophy, she loves to share experiences in art, nature, cooking, and music with the children. Outside school, Jess likes to spend time with her family hiking, camping, traveling, reading, cooking and enjoying good music.

Ginnie Clarke, Elementary Guide

Ginnie fell in love with Montessori nearly 10 years ago. She holds a Montessori certification for ages 3-6 and is completing her Elementary certification for ages 6-12. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from the University of Oregon and has worked in Montessori schools in both Bend and Salem. When not working Ginnie enjoys music, photography, the outdoors, and spending time hiking and camping. She also enjoys traveling and has been to Europe and New Zealand, as well as many of the 50 states. .

Sarah Beattie, Extended Care Afternoon Assistant

Sarah Beattie was born and raised in Corvallis and is very fond of the area. Currently working on a Psychology degree at Oregon State,  she also enjoys every moment she spends with the children here at Corvallis Montessori. She enjoys her afternoons with the children playing games and doing crafts.
