What is the Corvallis Montessori School auction?
The CMS auction is an annual dinner event. It is the school’s biggest fundraiser, typically raising about $30,000 to support the CMS financial aid program for students in the Corvallis community.
When and where is the auction?
This year’s auction, themed “Made in Oregon,” will be held at 5:00pm on March 2nd, at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center at OSU. Access this years catalog to see the amazing items up for bid!
What happens at the CMS auction?
The auction is a night of fun for members of the greater Corvallis community. While the main purpose of the event is to raise money for CMS, it is also a terrific opportunity to have a fun night out with other CMS parents. Attending the auction is a great way to support the school whether or not you bid on any items that night.
People who attend the auction will have a chance to bid in both a silent auction and a live auction. There will also be dinner, live entertainment, and plenty of wine included in the ticket price! Again, all proceeds go to support CMS.
Is childcare provided?
Childcare will be provided for a minimal cost at the school for all CMS children with advance registration.
What can I do to help?
As the saying goes, many hands make light work! There are lots of one-time volunteer opportunities available for anyone who is willing to give an hour or two toward putting on a stellar event. There will be two or three solicitation days in early 2011, when groups of CMS parents and supporters will get together to canvass retail areas in Corvallis asking for donations. The auction committee will also be asking for set-up help on the day of the auction as well as assistance during the event itself.
And anyone can ask a business for a donation at any time. Forms are available on the bulletin board, to make the process easy for both the donor and the person soliciting the donation. So next time you go out for lunch or dinner at your favorite restaurant, bring along a form and ask them if they’d be willing to donate a gift certificate for the silent auction. Then add your donor's name to the list of donors from the community so that they are only asked once! It’s as easy as that.
How much do tickets cost? What’s included?
Tickets cost $50. Ticket prices include dinner and wine. A limited number of people may also attend the event as volunteers at no cost.
What should I wear?
Many people treat the auction as an opportunity to get dressed up and wear that formal dress or tuxedo that’s been gathering dust in the closet…but the most important thing to keep in mind is to wear something that makes you feel fabulous for a night of fun! There is no formal dress code for the event.
