Welcome to the CMS website! We hope that you will visit us often and learn more about the special qualities of our school. It is an amazing place to be!!
Adele Carey is head of the Corvallis Montessori School in Corvallis, Oregon. She joined us July 1, 2010 and became the head of the school as of July 1, 2011. She has had a distinguished career as a Montessori educator, serving for 24 years as lead teacher and Head of School at Kennebec Montessori School in Maine. When she began work at KMS, the school had 48 students who met in a single room on the second floor of a church. Under her leadership, Kennebec Montessori grew into a 100-student school with a free-standing building on fourteen acres of land.
Adele is a wonderful addition to CMS. She is smart, thoughtful, energetic, and experienced. She shares our belief that the academic, social, and moral education of CMS students is our most important job. This commitment is complemented by an aesthetic environment in spacious classrooms, full of light, with adjoining gardens.
CMS is accredited by Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). Our school reflects the ideas of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician born in the 19th Century who formulated an educational philosophy based on her observations about child development. The educational approach that is in practice at CMS is time-tested, backed by scientific study and respected around the world.
